What Is Curtain Fullness?
Curtain fullness is the amount of fabric used relative to the width of your window or track. It's expressed as a ratio, such as 2x, 2.5x, or 2.8x.
The higher the ratio, the more fabric is gathered into each curtain, giving you deeper folds, a softer drape, and that tailored, high-end finish our craftsmen are known for.
Why You Can't Just Match Your Track Width
Here's the part that trips people up. If your window track is 2m wide, it's tempting to think you only need 2m of fabric to cover it. But curtains made this way hang flat, stiff, and lifeless, more tablecloth than soft furnishing.
Curtains need extra fabric so they can fall into folds. Without that extra width, there's nothing for the fabric to gather into, so it just hangs flat against the rail with no movement or shape. This is why every one of our curtains starts at a minimum of 2x fullness, the least amount of fabric needed for a curtain to actually look like a curtain.
