How to Measure for Wave Fold Curtains

Wave fold curtains create a clean, modern look with soft, uniform waves flowing across the track. To ensure your curtains are made correctly, measuring for this heading style works differently from standard taped curtains or eyelet curtains.

Before ordering, it’s important to first check that you have the correct type of curtain track.

Step 1: Check That You Have a Wave Curtain Track

Wave fold curtains only work with a wave curtain rail.

A wave curtain track uses a corded pulley system where the curtain gliders are connected together at fixed intervals. This spacing is what creates the smooth, consistent wave effect across the curtain.

If your track does not have connected gliders on a pulley system like the image above, then wave fold curtains will not work correctly on your rail.

Standard curtain tracks, rods, or loose gliders are not compatible with this heading style.

Step 2: Count Your Curtain Gliders or Hooks

Once you’ve confirmed you have a wave curtain rail, the next step is to count the total number of curtain gliders/hooks on the track.

This is the most important measurement for wave fold curtains.

You must count every glider or hook across the entire track, including:

  • Single panel curtains

  • Pair curtains

  • Centre opening curtains

Even if your curtains open in the middle as a pair, we still need the total number of gliders on the full track.

How to Count the Gliders

Starting from one end of the track:

  1. Count each individual curtain glider/hook

  2. Continue counting all the way to the opposite end

  3. Include all gliders across the full rail

  4. Double check your final count before placing your order

Why We Need the Number of Gliders

Wave fold curtains use a special wave tape sewn into the curtain heading.

This tape is designed with fixed spacing to match the spacing of your wave track gliders. The number of gliders on your rail determines how much fabric is required to create the correct wave formation.

Unlike standard curtains, we do not calculate fullness based only on track width.

The glider count allows us to manufacture the curtains so the waves sit correctly and stack properly when opened.
